Have you ever...? Fashion Forum Fortnight

You know... seen an item on a celebrity, wanted it, bought it.

I remember a time when for one moment I was hooked in by a celebrity wearing a specific item and for the life of me I've forgotten who and what but I do know it happened once. The only other time I fell for a product was on screen - the TV screen - it was a SATC episode and the item in question was the Manolo Blahnik silver shoes...and yes I did buy them.

Go on confession time...get them all out even if it was Fearne Cotton!

  1. I often get item obsession but I can't think of anything celeb related. I bought one of the Halston Heritage SATC dresses but that was just because it was the nicest dress in Selfridges. Hmmm nope I cant think of any I guess its more my own self induced obsessing, oh and runway, always blame the runway!

  2. I can't think of a specific item I've seen and then purchased. Sometimes though I'll see someone on TV or in a film with similar hair to mine and think I like the way they've got their hair and maybe try it out or there's someone with a similar body shape to me in a style of dress/coat/skirt etc... that I wouldn't have normally chosen so I'll give that style a try, but that's about as far as it's gone.

  3. I don't think I've ever bought the exact same thing, but I have bought similar things. The one I can most remember is Cameron Diaz in a black dress and lipstick red, spiky heeled suede boots. I yearned and yearned for those boots... then lucky me, about 6 months later I found a very simlar pair of boots on sale and snapped 'em up :)

  4. Hmm, I don't think so. I did end up buying a pair of Office floral wedges after seeing them as the featured item in a magazine but they had to go back because they were cripplingly uncomfortable.

  5. I have to admit that I bought a name necklace when I started watching SATC and did want to buy a horseshoe necklace in the style of Carrie but didn't track one down but managed to find a couple of nice clutch bags! I like to try and find outfits that are 'in the style' of stars but don't end up completely matching their style piece for piece. I also have to admit that I bought a pair of leopard print heels in the sales from Fearne Cotton's range!

  9. I did see a gorgeous Gucci cashmere coat on some celebrity, can't remember which one. I couldn't afford the real thing but a tailor in Hong Kong made me one that was very similar (it was NOT a knock-off but was inspired by Gucci!), in cashmere, for about 1/5 of the Gucci price.

  10. When tom Ford was first at Gucci and Madonna wore a cobalt blue satin blouse and black velvet pants, I copied it, not Gucci of course! The Gucci bumbag from SATC, I loved that, wish I still had it, but lost it somewhere.

  11. Other than Madonna's fingerless gloves back in the 1980's I honestly can't recall anything I've copied. xxx
